On Sunday the sun came out and we hopped in the car to see how much snow had fallen the day before. We took a drive up on the Tug Hill, stopped by Dry Hill and Sackets Harbor and found some other people who were as excited to get out in the snow as we were. What a beautiful way to end a year full of adventure. We can’t wait to see what 2013 brings!

Now that the wedding festivities have died down and everything is back to normal in our world, we have been going through some of the summer photos we never got around to looking at. We came across the following from a beautiful day out on the water and a bunch of photos from our night shot series we had been experimenting with at the time, and thought they were too pretty not to share. We can’t wait to get back out with the camera equipment to explore new destinations!
While the weather in Upstate New York this Autumn hasn’t been remarkable, we did manage to get out this past week on some of the more glamourous days to catch sight of the foliage before it all blew off the trees. Here are some of our favorite shots:
A little over an hour east of Utica, sits a small quaint town in the center of New York State that is featured in its very own reality television show. “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” is set in the town of Sharon Springs, New York and follows the lives of two city boys who have moved to the country to reinvent themselves as farmers and entrepreneurs. Josh Kilmer-Purcell and his partner Brent Ridge have created the lifestyle brand Beekman 1802 which they slap on everything from cookbooks to goat’s milk soap. Over the weekend, Scott and I and a couple of great friends traveled down to Sharon Springs to partake in the town’s annual Harvest Fest. The festival featured vendors selling everything from pickles and pumpkins to clothing and jewelry, not to mention celebrity appearances by the Fabulous Beekman Boys themselves. Every inch of the town was dripping with pumpkins, mums and cornstalks, it was truly a visual delight. Highlights of our day included chatting with the locals, seeing the live birds of prey at the bird rescue exhibit and ending the day with a glass of wine at the gorgeous American Hotel. Here are some of our favorite shots from the day, and a clip from the popular show “The Fabulous Beekman Boys”. For a visual treat, check out the Beekman Boys’ website: http://beekman1802.com/.
Last weekend, we spiced up a drizzly Sunday morning with a trip to the zoo at Thompson Park in Watertown. We met up with our good friend Allison and wandered through the many animal exhibits taking photos along the way. The Thompson Park Zoo features a butterfly house, an otter exhibit and even a nocturnal animal exhibit just to name a few attractions. The zoo cares for a perfect combination of indigenous species and exotic animals creating a wonderful, interactive, and most of all educational experience for animal enthusiasts of all ages. The staff was warm, welcoming and extremely friendly and knowledgable making what was a lovely visit into an extraordinary one. The zoo welcomes guests during their regularly scheduled hours and also hosts a number of community-based events throughout the year.
