Tin Pan has beautiful outdoor garden seating available during the more temperate seasons.
Over the weekend, Scott and I had the opportunity to order some delicious takeout from one of the most fantastic restaurants in Sackets Harbor, Tin Pan Galley. This place lacks nothing in décor or taste, the food is gourmet to say the least, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a hip Manhattan restaurant. Musicians are a regular feature on the patio and the staff is adorn with shirts bearing the slogan, “Life is too short to drink bad wine”. One Friday night, Scott and I had dinner in the garden while the sounds of a string quartet filled the air around us and the fountain was glowing with ambient light like it was on fire. Add in a couple of glasses of wine, and you are looking at a perfect evening.
On this particular Sunday, it was much too cold and rainy to leave the house for any extended period of time. With the fireplace lit, I called in our standard breakfast takeout order; 1 Breakfast BLT and 1 Stuffed French Toast. Scott has been eating Tin Pan’s Stuffed French Toast for about a decade…maybe even longer. I remember him telling me about it the first time I went to breakfast there with he and his parents. He is really enthusiastic when it comes to this French Toast, and with good reason; thick layers of French Toast are stacked and filled with a sweet and creamy ricotta blend and topped with fresh strawberries and maple butter. I don’t know how any human could consume and entire order of it, but it is so delicious that it is physically difficult to stop eating it, no matter how full you are.
I like to rock a savory breakfast, myself. I used to go with the Eggs Benedict, which was complete with crab cakes, tomatoes, capers and hollandaise sauce, but now I have migrated to the Breakfast BLT as my standard go-to. If you have ever seen the movie Spanglish, you will know what I mean when I say it’s the ultimate breakfast sandwich. Thick maple smoked bacon is stacked up high with the freshest lettuce, tomatoes and avocados. Add a couple of eggs and an amazing smoked tomato aioli and it’s practically a masterpiece.
Tin Pan is a great place for a boozy brunch (they have the BEST mimosas I have ever tasted), a romantic dinner, a catered event or even a wedding reception. The restaurant also has a fantastic Facebook page that is updated with the entertainment and breakfast specials. I love it when businesses use Facebook correctly!
